expert 109x150 The Power of Being an Expert in Your Niche MarketIf you are to become successful in your online business  you must not underestimate the power of being  an expert in your niche market. The buying public always looks to experts to see what to buy. And for good reason. Experts are paraded across TV shows, newspaper articles, radio shows, books, magazines, websites… It’s clear – if you’re researching a topic you look for the expert opinions!

As marketing expert Susan Friedman said in her book Riches in Niches:

“Highly visible, very successful entrepreneurs have 3 traits in common:

1. They are all considered experts in their niche market.
2. They all make substantial and ongoing efforts to promote their expert identity
3. They have all achieved their position through hard work and smart marketing.”

An expert has instant trust and respect, and less competition – because people are willing to pay for the right expertise. Be THE expert on your niche market, and whenever anyone is researching the business opportunity or products online they will find you.  It will be inevitable.  Your name will be everywhere. The importance of becoming an expert in your niche market …

You can:

* Write a blog answering questions
* Feature products on Squidoo lenses
* Publish articles in article directories
* Create an autoresponder for lead generation
* Brand your name, and become the obvious choice for prospects thinking of signing up!

Susan Friedman goes on to say:

“Every time the public tunes into the media they’re hearing expert opinions. This has created the expectation of expertise. If the buying public wants an Expert: Be The Expert!

Success depends on your ability to differentiate yourself from the generalists. Rather than be a grain of sand, be the beach umbrella!”

If someone is interested in joining your company as a distributor, why should they choose you as their sponsor?  Do demonstrate the kind of expertise and knowledge they are looking for?  Can they find you using Google?  Do they trust that you know everything about your business it’s possible to know?

So how do you get prospects to put their trust in your abilities?

* It has nothing to do with fancy business cards
* It’s not about how big your team is
* And it has nothing to do with your income level

It’s everything to do with your perceived expertise.

If you’re prospect searches for your name or business opportunity in Google and they don’t find you, your value as a business partner instantly drops.  And you can bet that people are googling you!  Your prospects need to find all your contact information, your blog, squidoo lenses, published articles, videos, and press releases. In other words, you must firmly entrench yourself as the authority in your niche market.

There are thousands of other distributors promoting the same products and opportunity as you are, so any potential recruit will only sign up with you if they think you can help them be successful. And you can. So prove it.

The key to becoming a trusted expert in your niche market is to share your knowledge.  You need to educate others.

So start today!

The Yellow Pages, as a traditional method of finding products and services, is dying. No longer can you simply insert your name and number into the big yellow book and wait for the phone to start ringing. You will be missing out on a huge amount of free leads and growth if you are nowhere to be found. Continue reading »

What’s in a Meta Tag?

ptg000205481 150x111 Whats a Meta Tag?One of the cool and immensely powerful advantages of using WordPress for your internet marketing efforts is the almost endless stream of free plug-ins that are available to not only add new features to your blog, but also to increase the visibility of your blog to search engines such as Google, Bing, Yahoo, and others. But if you are using a stand alone web page to market your product or offer, you may feel lost when it comes time to think about optimizing your site for search engine visibility (SEO).

If you are using a traditional web page, rather than simply configuring an SEO plug-in as you would  for your WordPress blog, you will actually have to get under the hood of your site and make use of  what are known as “meta tags”. You use meta tags to tell the search engines a variety of things such as the title of your site, how often to came back and check your site for new content (index), associate your site with certain keywords and phrases, and several other important web site attributes.
